Wednesday, March 1…C is for Cookie (Cookie Monster)

Woke up in what seems like the middle of the night thinking, “Oh, crap, I left my jacket on the bike and it’s supposed to rain. Is it raining now? Should I go get it? Wear my pajamas or put clothes on? Probably have to put shoes on because of the rocks. Maybe I can just leave it until later? It’s my big jacket…I could put it in the dryer but what’s it made of? Is there anything on it that will melt in a dryer? I don’t think I hear any rain…Agh! Just get up and do it, girl!”  Since my brain wasn’t going to let this go, I quietly got up, went out to grab my jacket which thankfully was only damp from dew, and looked at the clock on my way back to bed.  Five-forty five…yes! Another hour or so of sleep!  Except not. I lay there, willing myself to go back to sleep, but it just..wasn’t..happening.  So I got up again, got dressed and was out the door at 6:40 a.m., walking down Picacho Hwy just as the sun was peeking around the Picacho Mountains.  The air was a bit cool on my legs but I was willing to deal with it. Just walk faster.

Kim got up shortly after I got back and soon was out taking his walk while I finished up some homework I had to do for a class at church.  I was tempted to just lay down on the couch to snooze but instead grabbed my camera to see what animals/birds I might see down the road.  So, I took another walk…shorter this time though. Didn’t get any pictures but my two walks netted me over 12,000 steps before noon.  I’d call that a good start.

--------------------

Took a ride into Eloy because Wednesday is Mexican pastry delivery day at the IGA.  I went for the piggy cookies and Kim went for a flaky roll type of pastry.  When we arrived on Feb. 20th, the pastry shelf  was bare.  When we got home from Hawaii on the 27th, the pastry shelf was bare.  That just means that we’re not the only ones who enjoy the pastries. Pastry shelf was full today.  Bought two packages of piggy cookies…one for me and one to send to the Charlevoix grandkiddos.  Get ‘em while the gettin’s good.

Did some geocaching on the way home from Eloy. There are a couple of caches yet to find on the frontage road and another one down Picacho Hwy; that seems to be the extent of caches in the Picacho/Eloy area.  Time to start branching out farther afield.

No bike ride again today.  Today I had the energy, but the weather wasn’t cooperating. We have to be on the far side of Tucson at 6 p.m. which means leaving at about 5, so we wouldn’t have had much time anyway.  Some day soon all factors will be in alignment and we’ll get out for a ride. Until then, we’ll manage to keep busy.

--------------------

Bud and Vincenza Klooster come to Tucson for their winter getaway also. We were invited over to their place tonight for supper, along with Bryan and Linda Shumaker, friends from Boyne City.  What a great way to spend a few hours!

Encountered a rain/mostly snow mix on the drive back to camp.  Drove in it for about 30 miles before it changed to rain.  And the temperature was a freakin’ 33o!  What is up with Mother Nature?!  Thankfully it had changed to straight up rain with the temp reaching 38o by the time we were in the campground. Still not great but better than snow!

--------------------

Obviously, no imaging for Kim tonight with the weather.  We’re hunkered down at the table with the camper heater on for the first time. Been running the little electric heater at night to take the chill off and that’s been all we’ve needed.  Tonight called for more heat at a faster rate than the electric heater could give.  It’s supposed to be in the mid-70s with full sun by the weekend. Yes!!

40 Days of Lent challenge: Write down an unrealistic expectation you have put on someone and confess it to God. (Part 1)  Well, there were so many options to pick from on this one.😟 I managed to narrow my choices down to one, had a talk with God about it, but didn’t write anything down.  I can always quickly jot it down if I need it in writing for Part 2.
