10 a.m…Gracious!
we just dragged our butts outta bed. Not a big surprise that I wasn’t tired
last night after my 5-hour midday nap.
So, it was almost 1 a.m. when I was tired enough to call it a day; Kim
had some time with the telescope and then came in the join me at the table to
do some stuff on his computer. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the
pillow…sounds cliché but it’s true as he’d basically been awake for more than
40 hours.

Noon…Our
adventure within an adventure is over and now we can focus on our time in
Arizona. We’re here through the month of
March so it’s time to settle in. To that end, Freddie and Flossie are out in
front of our camper, the hummingbird feeders are out on the tree and the lawn
chairs are out ready to be sat in. The telescope
has been set up, Moxie and Louie are on the bikes ready to ride, and up next is
figuring out where to put the cell cams.

Evening
update…No walking today because overall it was a no energy kind of day. Occasionally
I’d have a burst of energy but the call to just sit on the couch was real. I’m
guessing it’s a fall-out from the time changes we encountered traveling eastward. My body always accepts the westward time
changes much easier than the eastward. I
hope to get to bed earlier tonight, get up earlier tomorrow and get a walking routine
established. The Cotton Days 5K walk/run
is this Saturday and Kim thinks we need to give it a try. We’ll see.

Made a run to Coolidge this afternoon
where we did a little more grocery shopping.
The grocery run I made last night was for minor stuff…enough to get us
through supper and breakfast. Today’s
shopping was a bit more extensive, meaning we spent a lot more money but have options
now. We still might be scratching our
heads when it comes to mealtime decisions, but it won’t be because the cupboards
are bare.
--------------------
Bought another bird feeder…this one is for
bird seed. Trying to attract the birds
that hang out in the bushes near our camper. It’ll be fun to see if it gets any attention.
Already had a hummingbird checking out our
feeders. It didn’t come into drink, just
sat on a nearby cactus. But that lets us
know that our feeders have been found. We put three hummer feeders up again
this year; so, with the new one, we have four bird feeders hanging from the
tree. Time to do some bird watching from
the comfort of my lawn chair.

The sun was out all day and the temperature
reached 62o which made me I’d take Zeus out for a ride when we got
home from Coolidge. Was going to take a
quick run over to check on last year’s owl nest out on Park Link Rd., which is
just the right distance for a quick ride.
But I just couldn’t make myself change into riding clothes, so we took
the truck instead.
From all that we could see, the owl nest is not inhabited, at least not by owls. Last year, we could tell
from the cell cam footage that the female sat the nest almost all day. She flew off when we were around but otherwise, she was sitting on the eggs. The nest was unoccupied at the time we were there at about 5 o’clock. I zoomed my camera in to verify. We sat alongside the road for a few minutes and watched…no bird action in the sky either. But that doesn’t mean I won’t keep looking as I pass the cactus on rides, nor will it keep me from taking a peek into the nest at some point. So, instead we drove down the road to a wash
we had hiked last year and set the cell camera up near what we think is a game
trail. Time will tell. We have two more
cell cameras with us; at least one will be placed on a game trail down Picacho
Highway. If there is any bird action at
the cactus whenever we drive by, a camera can go up there, too. Then we just sit in the camper and wait to be
notified of any action.

My tattoo appears to be healing nicely. The see-through
adhesive covering that Lex put on it on Saturday is still in place. Supposed to
keep it on for 5 days but if it falls off before, it’s not the end of the
world. I don’t think mine will fall off…I think I’m going to have to pull it
off and by the size of it, that isn’t going to feel so swell. Lex recommended pulling
it off in the shower to let the water help loosen it. Still going to hurt. When
the adhesive layer is removed, I have to apply a non-fragrant lotion to it for a
couple of weeks. I’m anxious to see it without the covering.

No imaging for Kim tonight because a guy was setting up his little camper beside the telescope area, lights blazing
and not in any site…just randomly beside the fence. Because there were also some clouds, Kim
decided not to make an issue of the situation. He still hasn’t been able to do
a polar alignment; hopefully tomorrow night the clouds won’t be an issue and he
can git ‘er done.

40 Days of
Lent challenge: Fast from sugar for the day. This meant that label checking was the name of
the game before I put anything in my mouth.
Found out I couldn’t eat any of the cereal I’d bought last night because
every one of them contained sugar, even though I went for the grain cereals,
not the sugary ones. Drat! When I reached for an orange, Kim wondered if that
was allowable since fruit contains sugar.
Decision time. I decided that I would fast from the processed, added
sugar found in most foods, not the naturally occurring sugar like in fruits. So,
all in all, it was doable; I just had to pay attention.
