I was so tired when we got back to camp that I crawled into my sleeping bag wearing my clothes. Got to bed just after 2 a.m…woke up just before 7 a.m. On paper it doesn’t seem like nearly enough sleep but I did okay throughout the day, only closing my eyes a couple of times on the drive to Tucson. I know it’ll feel good to snuggle in the sleeping bag tonight.

Today’s project was fixing the front right corner
of the camper. My job was to crawl into the storage space and drew the outline
of the door on the sheet metal. Found it much easier to go in through the space
under the bed…more room to wiggle around and get to where I needed to be. Joe, from the site across the road, lent a
hand to Kim where needed. Since Joe is
filling in as a minor maintenance guy while Ryan is visiting his Grandma in
Florida, he was able to get some tools that were exactly what was needed to do
the job right. He was a big help when it came to cutting curves in the sheet metal.
Kim
feels good about the repair and he should…it looks really good. But the final
test will be how it withstands the bumps of the open road.
--------------------
The project
was halted because Kim had a 3:30 eye appointment at Costco. He’s past due for an exam and his glasses needed
more help than a vigorous cleaning could offer.
So, it’s time for new glasses.
They should only take 7 to 10 days…within the amount of time we have
left here. Tonight, he received a call about
the frames he had picked out which were the same as the glasses on his
face. That particular frame had been
recalled due to a tendency the stems to break so it’s unavailable. So tomorrow we’ll go back so he can pick out
another pair of frames.

I send my mom the journal every night so she’s
current on what we’ve been doing. She wanted to know what the Nutt Rd camera was
that I mentioned frequently; we explained that it’s the camera we put on Nutt
Rd. The next step was to show her where
Nutt Rd is in relation to the campground.
I also showed her the hawk nest down Picacho Hwy that’s occupied again
this year. We oohed and aahed about the
flowers and the green-ness of the desert. Just showed her some of the things
that occupy our days out here.

Sky was cloudy all day and into the night. There was a wind too that made it feel slightly
less than the 72o my phone was proclaiming it to be. But still a good day to be outside.
Kim hasn’t been out to the telescope in
several days due to clouds. But the forecast shows lots of sun and a clear sky
once we get past tomorrow. He bought a
new guide thing for his scope that he’s anxious to put to use on the next clear
night.

Taco Tuesday at the clubhouse tonight from 6 to 8. It was well attended; we were probably the last ones there but there was still some taco fixin’s left for us to enjoy. There were kid friendly and adult Jell-o shots available also; when Marilyn asked what that was about, I told her the adult version had tequila in it and that no, she couldn’t have one. Figured turnabout was fair play…she used to tell me not to drink, now I’m telling her. 😉 Anyway we went back to camp where we all started watching the clock and started yawning, each trying to determine the best time to head to bed that wouldn’t have us awake at an unnaturally early hour.

40 Days of Lent
opportunity: Fast from food for 4 hours
today. Since I was up at seven this morning,
I declared my four hours to be from 7 to 11 a.m. I will confess that it didn’t take me long
after 11 to eat a piggy cookie.
