Sunday, March 14...The Times They Are A-Changin’ (Bob Dylan)

Kim made breakfast for everyone this morning...something he so enjoys.  He cooked up pancakes and scrambled eggs with Willie bringing the fried potatoes.   The morning had a slight chill but there were no clouds in the sky so the sun was able to warm the air quickly.  Still a breeze so it was best to sit in the sun and not in the shadows.  The temperature reached the low 60’s...not a huge jump but a good improvement over yesterday.

--------------------

The rest of the country went into Daylight Saving Time mode but not us...Arizona doesn’t observe DST.  So my body clock doesn’t have to do any adjusting...for now.  We did miss watching the online church service because church started at 9 a.m. Michigan time which means we would have to be up at 6 a.m. to watch it live.  I don’t do 6 a.m....at least not on purpose.

--------------------

Attended church service this morning at Picacho Baptist on the corner.  The new pastor, Gordon Vernon, seems very good.  I miss the easy going style of Rick Wilson, who retired last year due to some medical issue which happened pre-COVID.  Found out toward the end of the service that Gordon is a brother to Greg, the man who generally leads singing and makes announcements.  Lila, the pianist, still makes playing the piano look effortless.  More people today in attendance than I’ve ever seen...but I forgot to count.

It was decided to just hang around camp today.  John/Michele and Vickie/Dan have been doing so much driving that a day to sit and relax really appealed to them.  They played cards in the clubhouse.  Kim and I did the round trip walk to Nutt Road and back. Just the perfect thing for us to do this afternoon.

 --------------------

Tonight was potluck of sorts at our campsite. Our site is large (as campsites go) and private, especially with the way Kim has the truck parked.  So we all contributed whatever we had that went with grilled burgers.  Then we sat around a campfire for a couple of hours.  Good food, good company, good way to spend the evening.

--------------------

Willie and Ann are leaving in the morning...the others are staying one more night.  They want to go to Saguaro Nat’l Park West to walk among the saguaros.  That’s the place to do it for sure. We have an obligation in the morning so we won’t go to the park with them.  We should be home around noon or one.

--------------------

The water pumps for watering the pecan groves have been off for a couple of days now and the canals are dry already.   Last year they pumped water into the canals for over 2 weeks; this year it was 7 or 8 days.  I wonder how they determine when the groves have had enough water.  And I may have missed my opportunity to ask one of the workers where the water comes from.  I haven’t been seeing the white trucks now that the pumps aren’t running.  We still have 3 more weeks out here so maybe I’ll get another shot at it.

--------------------

Sky was clear tonight...Kim was able to image.  And he was able to show all interested parties just what it is he does over in the corner of the campground.
