Yoga in the morning…no wayward glances my way as far as I know. I was out at an earlier time so maybe the dog walkers were still drinking their morning coffee instead of getting the dog out for some exercise and that’s fine by me. 😎

Last night we talked about our plan for today: walk in the morning, go
to Casa Grande on an errand and once back to camp Kim would work on the truck
and I would take a bike ride. We managed
to hit all our goals but not in the order we’d planned.
Cell cam app told me that there were several new pictures/videos…checked
‘em out and realized the last video, taken at 6 a.m., was showing only the tip
of the cactus. Oh-Oh, the camera had tilted. I thought it was just the camera but Kim was
concerned that the stake had come out.
Whatever the reason it needed to be fixed and sooner than later because videos
showing only the sky, crows and the tip of the cactus arm were starting to come
in. From that I could guess at what
might be happening…crows harassing the owl but getting videos of the sky wasn’t
the purpose of buying the camera. So that changed the order of operation for the
day.
First up the truck needed fuel and since the cheapest stations were
toward Casa Grande we did errands there next, then went to the owl nest. Fixed the camera, changed the cards and
headed back to camp. By that time I had already
decided to walk later in the afternoon to avoid walking in the heat of the day.
So…Kim worked on the truck and I took a bike
ride. We got a walk in before supper. I went as far as the caracara nest, waited a
few minutes to see if the caracara would show then walked back to camp to get
supper going…Kim continued on to Nutt Rd. Supper was ready by the time he returned.

I wonder if the hummingbirds have started their migration or have just
lost interest in our feeders. We’re down
to seeing three or four over the course of the day as opposed to seeing two or
three at a time going for the feeders.
Even Hum-zilla is no longer sitting in
the tree chasing others away.

Yesterday
I had planned to take a long bike ride today out to the reservation and then circling
back to Casa Grande. That route usually
takes a couple of hours, maybe more.
However, the way the day played out that ride wasn’t going to happen.
Since I still wanted to get a walk in, I needed to take a shorter ride.
I made a loop by going to Coolidge, then out to Hwy 187 which took me in
the back way to Casa Grande. Continued from there to the car wash in Eloy. Did a spray and dry on Zeus and then was on
my way back to camp.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll head out to the reservation.

Today’s 40 Days of Lent challenge was to say a prayer for your “enemies”. Sat with this for a while then asked Kim what
he thought…did he have any enemies? Because I was coming up blank on that one. And I guess I was looking for guidance as to
how to frame it because enemy is a strong word, it packs a certain heaviness…an
emotion that goes beyond dislike. So is
this prayer supposed to be for someone I consider an enemy? Because, really, I can’t think of anyone in
my life that I dislike enough to call them that. Or do I pray for someone who
considers me an enemy? In which case I’m
clueless as to who dislikes me that much unless I think in broader terms like those
who hate all Americans.
When
I had the opportunity I looked up the definition of enemy:
a person who is actively opposed or hostile to
someone or something. Okay but that still doesn’t
answer my questions.
Rather than chase myself in circles I decided to approach it this way: 1.
Pray for those who might be hostile toward me and 2. Pray that my heart will be
softened toward those whose behavior/attitude stir up hostile feelings in me.
