Kim might not be at church
cooking breakfast but he’s the main cook here at camp. Eggs and pancakes were on the menu this
morning...topped off with some whipped rum honey that Vickie had purchased at a
farm market in Mississippi. Always
tastes better when someone else cooks it.
----------
No phone call wake up this morning and no
walking, either. Alarm went off...Kim got up to cook breakfast and I stayed in
the comfy coziness of the bed. After
breakfast we headed to Coolidge on an errand and came home on the Tom Mix Loop. Of course we stopped at the Tom Mix Memorial
because it’s my thinking that everybody should have the Tom Mix experience at
least once in their lives. Well, at
least if they’re in this part of Arizona and we’re giving the tour. π

Last year we found a saguaro about 50 feet
off Park Link Rd that had a hawk nest wedged in among the arms. I’ve been looking for it on every ride this
year and Kim finally spied it today.
Except that a hawk wasn’t on the nest...a crow was perched on the edge
of it and another crow was nearby.
Squatters perhaps? When I
enlarge the photo that I took there appears to be feather peeking above the
edge. I wonder if crows will eat the
eggs or young of other birds. I will Google that tomorrow
and I have a plan that might let me get a better picture of what’s in the nest...Kim
doesn’t think it’ll work but he’s willing to help me out. π

A former classmate of Dan’s lives in the
area and yesterday Vickie and Dan talked to him about getting together. We thought there was a plan for him to stop
by the camp this afternoon but he was vague about the time other than saying
the afternoon would work good for him.
We were back to camp shortly after noon from our ride-about but Kirk
never did show up...or call. His loss, I
guess.
----------
It was about 20o cooler today
than yesterday...topped out in the low 60’s and cloudy all day.
----------
There’s a hot dog truck over
by the Flying J gas station on Sunshine Blvd. and it was highly recommended by
Ryan and Felicia. Today was the day to
check it out. It’s called Hot Dog Alvarado
and those hot dogs lived up to Ryan's recommendation. Let’s see, a hot dog with the works included
tomatoes, beans, salsa, ketchup, mustard, mayo, guacamole, and sauted onions. Oh, and the bun was buttered on the outside
and toasted on the griddle. All that
goodness for only $3. And maybe I didn’t
need to eat two of them but I did....so did Kim. And I’m sure there will be another trip to the hot dog stand before we leave the area. π
----------
It was a low key day...back in camp by early
afternoon, hot dogs for lunch, Kim played around with the drone and then we
headed up to the clubhouse to play cards...a game called Hand and Foot. We were clueless about it but Vickie and Dan
gave us a good tutorial. We only played
one round up at clubhouse before it was time to vacate because the Thursday
night BINGO game was about to start.
Came back to camp for supper
and to figure out how to finish our game.
The logical place was in the trailer but we had to make enough room for
the small table and 4 chairs. I was
willing to deflate the air mattress and just re-inflate it when we were
done...despite the fact that it has a motor to do the work, Kim thought it was
too much of a hassle. My next idea
involved pushing the mattress up on end against the back wall. My first attempt
knocked a shelf off the wall but with Kim’s help the next attempt was
successful and now we had the space we needed for the table and chairs. Game on!!!
Finished our first game and then played a second.
----------
It’s had been a very cloudy day and the clouds continued into the evening. It had cleared up by 12:30 a.m. I know that because that’s when we piled out of the trailer after the 2nd game of Hand and Foot to get ready for bed. I sure hope there are no early phone calls. π

Random conversation of the
day:
Kim has been wearing his cowboy style straw
hat everywhere because it’s a good shield for his eyes. In Walgreen’s two little people were with
their mom at the check-out as we walked by. The girl looked to be 4 and the boy
maybe 2. The little girl tipped her head
back and looked at Kim as we approached.
Eyes narrowed, she asked him, “Are
you a cowboy?” Kim didn’t hear her
right away so I jumped in with, “Yeah, he’s a cowboy, all right.” Then she looked around us and came back with “Where’s your horse?” I continued the fantasy by telling her that
today he took his truck and left the horse home. She mulled that one over out loud, “He didn’t ride his horse, he rode in his
truck?” We started to leave but I
finished my conversation with her, “Yep,
he took his truck because his horse isn’t allowed in the store.” Then we merrily went on our way. π
----------
Only got about 6300 steps but today was
about hanging out and not about walking.
It was a good trade-off.
----------
No bike miles today.
