Great Time for a Get Away!! 2017

We're on the road again...for a little Get Away!  I've been journaling since we left but today (March 2) is the first day that I've had a good internet signal, so I'll be playing a bit of catch up.  So the dates I'm able to get online and post may be different than the date of my journal entry but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Friday, Feb. 24….
What a day for a Get Away!
Our weather recently has been such that the snow in our yard is gone…temps have been solidly in the 40s, sometimes heading up in the 50s….sun has been breaking through the cloud cover more and more.  However, this morning we woke to 4 or 5 inches of wet sloppy snow and although we’ve been planning this trip for a while now, today seems like a perfect day to get away.   Heading out to Arizona to do some more exploring and star gazing; then it’s onto New Mexico and then Texas to do the same.
----------
Before we left, Kim received a phone call from  Mike, who urged us to have fun but "be careful because I want you guys to come back home okay….and, Kim, is it okay if I call you?  Like maybe once a week or so, just to check in, see how it’s going and tell Karen…hey, tell Karen that I love you guys, God Bless and all that shit."   J
A bit unorthodox perhaps but somehow it was the perfect send off from our buddy Mike.

Headed out about noon on Friday, Feb. 24….first stop is Marshall, MI, to spend the night with Brett and Ann.

Fast forward to Monday, Feb. 27…
The TN and KY WonderKids
Although we left Charlevoix on Friday, it only now feels like we’re officially on our trip.  After leaving Brett and Ann’s Saturday morning, we drove to Kentucky where we spent the weekend soaking up time with family….hung out at Marshal and Callie’s for a bit Saturday afternoon/evening with the Tennessee Bakkers…had a slumber party with the Tennessee WonderKids on Saturday night at the Shelbyville Ramada Inn…Sunday went back to Waddy to hang out some more at Marshal and Callie’s…celebrated the twinsies #2 birthday with friends and family…and finished off our Kentucky time with another slumber party Sunday night, this time with Kim’s sister Vickie and her husband Dan. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we parted ways and now we’re off on another great adventure!!
