Long distance errands to do:
#1. We put a stop on our mail before we left...I would pick it up when
we got home. Well, the way things kept
changing I wasn’t willing to bet on the Post Office still being operational
whenever that might be. So yesterday I
called the Charlevoix post office to see what could be done about our
mail. I explained our situation and my
concern about a possible closure...is it
possible for my neighbor to pick it up or my mail carrier to deliver it? She checked how much had accrued...about 3
inches worth. Was my mailbox big enough?
It’s just a standard size...I don’t know
if 3 inches of mail will fit. Would it
be possible for the mail carrier to just deliver the box and put it in our
garage? I’ll bring the box back when we
get home. After asking about entry
to the garage she said that Jo could box it up and deliver it...and she’d also
put another stop mail order in so it wouldn’t pile up in the mailbox. Gotta love small town service!
#2. Mom brought enough of her
thyroid medicine for maybe 3 ½ weeks...the length of time we thought she’d be
gone from home. Not having enough meds
was one of her concerns about lengthening our stay out here. So I called her doctor in Manistee today to
see about getting a prescription called into the Manistee Walgreen’s so we could
have it transferred to the Coolidge Walgreen’s.
Easy peasy! Everyone involved was
so cooperative although I’m a little amazed that all I had to verify was her
name and birthday to set this whole plan in motion.
#3. Mom’s April car payment was
also a concern...it wasn’t set up at the bank yet, she didn’t bring her
checkbook and she didn’t want it to be late.
I called GM Financing today only to find that there was an estimated 10
minute wait to speak to a person or a 480 minute wait to get a text
response. Seriously?! I nosed around
on the website and found the FAQs. Due to the COVID-19 shelter-at-home order all
late fees will be waived for payments due from March 20 through April 30. Another sigh of relief. 😌

After getting confirmation that the prescription was called into
Walgreen’s we took off for Coolidge.
Walgreen’s first, then Safeway, then Walmart to see if it had some groceries that Safeway didn't.
I thought maybe it’d be super busy because the Stay Home, Stay Healthy,
Stay Connected order was going into effect at 5 p.m. today but all 3 stores
were just normal busy. I scored toilet
paper at Safeway which was exciting to me.
I set in the child’s seat of the cart and walked around beaming like it
was my first child. Ridiculous but true.

Kim and I send a happy birthday video to kids and grandkiddos on their
birthdays. Well, today it was my
turn. My day started with a great video
of the KY WonderKids popping out of boxes then singing, giggling and dancing
for me; when we were in Walmart Finley and Leland called with a hearty Happy
Birthday. Throughout the day I got phone
calls and texts from family and friends. When we were back at camp Grady
started sending me some fun birthday songs which included a rousing
rendition of ‘Celebration’ and a couple more that I think he made up himself. Ashlyn and Cullen also sent greetings then
Ezra and Anna chimed in with their birthday video. And to top it all off Kim managed to buy a
birthday cake without my knowledge and he and Marilyn sang to me before we cut
it. Just the perfect way to spend a
birthday far from home. 😃

Late afternoon Kim and I took another walk to Nutt Road. It was overcast yet warm...perfect for
walking 3 miles. We don’t put a great hurry on it, just
keep a steady pace. It’s a great way to
boost the Bingo challenge. When we got
down to where the snake met the wheel of a truck yesterday, we encountered an
interesting but totally freaky sight. It
was a totally stripped snake skeleton with the head still attached. For me it was both Wow! and Ewww, that’s Nasty! For Kim it was total Cool!

Met George Aros the guy next door with a few roping championships to his
name. After some small talk he invited
us to come over any time to watch some roping...1 p.m. daily. However he did say that COVID-19 was
affecting that also as only one person showed up today. Well, if I can remember the 1 o’clock time
frame, I’d be tickled to go watch whatever goes on over there.

Kim and I are still planning on taking some bike rides as ‘biking’ is on
the essential activities list out here in Arizona. Doesn’t say that your bike can’t have a
motor. 😉Social distancing will be no
problem and if we get told to cease and desist, we will. Hoping to see some cacti blooming during our
extended play time here. It looks
promising just from the cacti around camp.
--------------------
No bike miles today but I got 13,202
steps.
