Monday, February 25…Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes (Jimmy Buffet)

First thing to do this morning was to peek through the curtains at the driveway…that’s how I check the weather.  Yippee!  No need for Kim to snow blow the driveway before he left for his appointment…in our world that means the roads into town are probably passable.  That’s all we needed to be able to head out…passable roads.  I quickly packed what I could and had it all waiting in case Kim gave the thumbs up for leaving when he got home.  He had no problem with the condition of the road; I took that to mean that all systems were go for taking off.  While he was putting the finishing touches on loading the truck and trailer, I headed into town to do some last minute banking and mailing.  I did a last minute check of all my pre-trip Post-It notes when I got home:
        Thermostats turned down…
        Gas fireplace turned off
        Garbage out
All light switches in the off position because Alexa doesn’t realize she needs to turn everything off  when the power comes back on after a power outage…

With my mind at ease we headed outside to get the road trip started…but first we posed for a chilly start of the trip selfie.  Got on the road a little after 1 pm.

----------
Roads were snow covered and looked like they could be slippery but we didn’t have any problems.  Kim took it slow, allowed plenty of time for stopping and generally kept it between the lines.  We wanted to go down US 127 so we took the Mancelona cut off through Grayling…the major highways were clear.  Ran out of snow around Clare…back seat driving from the passenger’s side of the truck was easy peasy from that point on. 😊
Our goal today was to drive as far as we could into Indiana.  Tomorrow we’re hoping to surprise a couple of birthday boys and their sister with a fly through lunch date.  The details are still to be worked out with Callie but we’ve got a general plan at least.  And that’s about how we roll…nothing too concrete, just general plans that unfold as we go along. 😏
----------
We’re heading south and it’s getting warmer. Almost 9 p.m. and the outside temp according to the truck is 28o.  Still chilly but so much better than 12o which is what it was when we left home.  It’s amazing what a few degrees can do for a person’s outlook.  😎
----------
When we travel I tend to name our trips…it’s much easier to recall specifics of a trip if a name is attached.  But I’m struggling to find a name for this trip.  Arizona 2019 sounds so blah but it’s all I have right now. Hopefully the creative side of my brain kicks in soon but then again maybe it won't.
We're out of the Mitten!
